Phew. What a long day. Jose and I left at 8 this morning to go to the neurologist. We were going to talk about the tests she had done the last time. Some of the tests were still not back - apparently they're very indepth. It's already been almost a month since they were taken. The ones that were back were normal, except her lactic acid level was high. He said that can be elevated for other reasons, but we re did it to check. So back to the lab for more blood work. He also wanted an EEG done. http://kidshealth.org/parent/general/sick/eeg.html (good article about the procedure) They placed sticky goopy stuff all over her head, and a lot of little electrodes all over - she looked like a little baby Medusa (greek goddess that had snakes for hair, if I remember correctly). They then wrapped her head all up so they wouldn't come off. She looked like a head trauma victim. She slept during most of the test - then they took this light right in her face and it was like a strobe light - flashing like crazy (they were looking for seizure like behavior). This woke her up and she was not happy to be woken by that. She was scared and screamed for awhile. I finally got her calmed down, they finished the test and we washed her head up. So we got home at 3:30! We had a couple hours to kill from the first appointment to the EEG test, so went to Ridgedale and ate and walked around. It was kinda nice, though I felt bad that my dad had to spend all morning there, then my sister had to leave work and go to our house so dad could get to work. We hate making people do all that for us, but it was either stay longer that day or come back later this week. The daycare was already closed today, so it was easier to figure out to make it work today then figure out the daycare issue later. So Jose rushed off to work as soon as we got home since he missed most of the day and now I'm home to finish laundry and clean the house since we didn't do much this weekend. We should find out about the EEG tomorrow sometime and then they will continue to call me in the meantime with any other tests. We will see the doctor again in 6 weeks to decide our next step. It's just one small baby step at a time. He said he can see some improvement but not enough to say we don't need to test anymore. He still wants to continue testing to rule out everything. He also said if we get a lot of tests back that are normal, but he still has concerns he would send us to Mayo clinic where apparently they have an even more specific specialist to help us figure out everything.
Let's see...what else....Isabelle got her second tooth yesterday. She's biting and drooling like crazy! :) We took the kids and Hannah to Mall of America on Saturday. We were going to go to the zoo but it was too windy, and we haven't done anything as a family in a really long time. So we went on a few rides, ate, walked around and bought a toy at the Disney store. They had a lot of fun and it was great to see them have fun! I'll post some pictures later when I get a chance. I think that's it. Thanks for checking in!
