I broke my toe! It hurts...

I was walking out of the kitchen and kicked my vacuum with the toe next to my pinky toe and haven't been able to walk well since. It's turning purple as we speak. It's hard to take care of lots of kids when you can't walk. Called the doctor..they said keep it elevated, ice it and don't use it - yeah right! :) Ibruprofen is my friend.
